We are happy to have preaching for us today, the Rev. Mike Cole, General Presbyter of the Presbytery of New Covenant. Mike grew up in the Presbyterian Church in Southeast Texas. He was first confirmed as a member of Bellaire Presbyterian Church and after a season away from the church, Mike confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at age 19. Following this renewal, he taught Sunday School, sponsored the Jr. High youth group and came under care of Pines Presbyterian Church and Brazos Presbytery.

In 1971, Mike met and married Elida Garcia Cole (affectionately known as Ellie). Mike and Ellie have one son, Colin, who is the proud father of Jacquelynn (9 years old) and Katelynn (7 years old). Colin currently works as a driller on an oil rig in Saudi Arabia.

Under the care of Brazos Presbytery, Mike graduated from the University of Houston and completed his theological education at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Mike has served as pastor in Saratoga, WY; Daly City, CA; Roseburg, OR; and Port Arthur, TX. He has served the Committee on Ministry in four presbyteries, chairing the committee in two. He was Vice-Moderator of San Francisco Presbytery and served as Moderator of New Covenant Presbytery before being called to serve as the General Presbyter of the Presbytery of New Covenant on February 7, 2003. In February, 2008 the presbytery extended Mike's call as General Presbyter for an indefinite term.
